Can I reset my iPad? Whilst it is no secret that iPads are a great “tablet” to have in your life, with key features, high spec and lots of great performance. However, just like any other form of tech, over time, you can find that your iPad starts to be unresponsive or just incredibly slow.
Not exactly what you want from your latest piece of tech, however, the good news is that there are things that you can do to make sure that your iPad is back to its best and they might not be as tricky as you may think.
Try a soft reset of your iPad
One of the most basic ways to solve any iPad problems that you might be having is to soft reset it. Of course, this is not going to solve everything. However, we often suggest this is as a starting point if you are having difficulty.
The first thing that you should do is press and hold the power button on the top, right hand side of your iPad. You should continue to hold this button until you see a slider appear on the top of the screen. As soon as you see this, you need to release the power button and move the slider to power off the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down the power button until the Apple logo appears and then release the button.
Then try a hard reset of your iPad
If that doesn’t work, then you are going to need to try out the hard reset. This is particularly true if your iPad is not responding to touch. In order to hard rest your iPad, you need to hold down both the power and home button at the same time.
Your screen will go completely blank, then the Apple logo will appear. When this happens you need to release all of the buttons that you are pressing down. This will restart your iPad and should hopefully fix any bugs that you had in the system.
If all else fails a factory reset will do
Sometimes the problem with your iPad is greater than a simple reset. This means that you are going to need to completely set your iPad back to factory settings. Before you do this, you need to make sure that you save everything either to the Cloud or to iTunes.
Factory resetting your iPad will set it back to its original state, when you first bought it. To do this you need to:
- Go to settings, general, reset, reset all content and settings
- A pop-up will appear, then you will need to tap erase
- It is at this stage that you will be asked to enter your Apple ID. Then enter your Passcode and your iPad will reset your iPad to factory settings.
