As iPhone repair experts, we see all sorts of tech problems everyday. However, there are a few common issues that seem to plague all iPhone and smartphone models in general. Read on for our top most common iPhone problems, and how to fix them.
Fast draining battery
Unfortunately, this is possibly one of our biggest complaints when it comes to iPhones. iPhone batteries don’t have great press – and Apple trying to hide that fact (2018 iPhone battery scandal) hasn’t helped matters.. If your battery seems to be draining fast, there are a couple of tricks you can do at home to help matters, until you get around to replacing the battery. First, switch off all the background apps. You could be running several continuously without even realising it. Go to settings and find the options to switch off all background apps. The second tip is even easier. Turn down your screen brightness. If you are inside, there is no reason for you to have the screen brightness turned all the way up. Just by making the adjustment to brightness only when you need it, can save a lot of battery juice.
Thankfully, newer iPhones are resilient when it comes to liquid damage. However, the earlier models, such as the iPhone 6 and iPhone SE, are still vulnerable to some water/drink’s spillages. A typical accident we see is when someone has stashed their mobile phone in their back pocket, and it falls into the toilet. Samsung got with the programme fairly early with this problem, and from the S5 onwards, all Samsung’s deal well with water issues. If you have a Samsung, you smartphone would survive such a catastrophe. However, if your iPhone is water damaged, wipe off the excess liquid straight away and power it down.
Next step is to put your iPhone in a container of rice and leave it there for 48 hours. If you are tech savvy, you could dismantle the components to assist with the drying process. However, don’t do this unless you know exactly what you are doing and if the iPhone is still under warranty. After 48 hours, try switching on your phone again. If it doesn’t power up properly, take it to an iPhone technician. You can find your closest iPhone repair service if you Google ‘iPhone repair experts near me.’
Broken iPhone screen
We recommend you seek a good iPhone repair service as soon as this happens. We recommend this for several reasons. First, the glass screen protects the delicate tech underneath it. Any cracks or more serious damage, if left, will turn a reasonably expensive job into a very expensive repair. Secondly, screen glass is not safety glass. Keeping an item with broken glass on it in your pocket or handbag, won’t potentially end well for your fingers. Getting your screen repaired is the only way out of this one, even if your iPhone seems to be functioning normally. Make sure your iPhone repair service replaces components with original Apple parts.
Got a frozen screen?
This one is an easy fix. Simply shut down your iPhone and them power it up again. Basically, your iPhone needs a reboot. If the problem persists, there could be a more serious software issue going on. Or, it could be that your battery is past it’s peak. Another thing reason could be that you haven’t updated your iPhone to the latest iOS version. If your iPhone is very old, it won’t be compatible with iOS 13 anyway. Anything older than the iPhone 6 is now out of the running for updates. Time for a new phone probably.
WiFi not working
This is probably one of the most annoying day to day glitches – especially as we seem to be totally reliant on internet capability. If you are trying to connect to a wireless network outside the home, and you have an old smartphone model, it may simply be that your hardware can’t handle the latest software updates, and as a result, functions like WiFi connections can be compromised. This is true of older Samsung models too – if you are using something like an S5.
#However, if you don’t have an old smartphone, you should be able to fix this problems pretty quickly. Quick restart your iPhone by depressing the Lock button and the Home button at the same time. When the apple logo shows up, see if the WiFi issue has fixed itself. If it’s still not connecting, head to Settings and hit the icon for the network you are trying to connect to. Then scroll to HTTP Proxy setting and change it to Auto.
