iPhone wireless chargers: Are they worth it?

iPhone wireless chargers: Are they worth it?: Wireless charging sounds like it should be the ultimate in convenience for smart phone users. Considering the poor lifespan of charging cables universally, it seems strange that Apple have only enabled the iPhone X and the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus to charge in a wireless fashion.

Even though Android users have enjoyed wireless charging for a while now, it seems only to have become the must-have attribute since Apple acknowledged the convenience factor. Acefast takes a look at the latest wireless chargers on the market available for iPhone x and iPhone 8.

  • Anker PowerWave 7.5W Pad

In first position we rate the Anker PowerWave Pad. While it’s mid-range expensive for a charger, you’ve got to take into account the sheer convenience factor of this device. In terms of tech, it’s the best piece of kit on the market right now, and it has a Quick Charge adaptor for the mains, which does require a USB cable.

  • Mophie Wireless Charging Base

One of the few wireless charging devices acknowledged by Apple in the midst of the 2018 product launch this March, this neat and sleek disk charger is fully compatible with the iPhone 8, the iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone X. Discreet but practical with a down-lighter that shines on the surface it’s placed upon, you also won’t lose it in the dark, or under tables.

  • Anker PowerPort Wireless 5 Dock

We like the fact that this small and neat device is also a docking station for your iPhone. You can use it in the faster docking station mode, where it promises to shave an impressive 45 minutes off your charging time. Or, you can use it in wireless mode. Either way, it makes using your iPhone while charging, much easier than the old fashioned way. It’s also optimized for the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, Galaxy Note 5 and the S7. If your phone is encased like Fort Knox to keep it safe, the Anker PowerPort can even charge it through 5mm thick cases.

  • Belkin Boost Up Wireless Charging Pad

Belkin Boost Up Wireless Charging Pad de-clutters and simplifies the charging process charging process. Apparently, Belkin collaborated with Apple to develop this speedy and no nonsense device for iPhone X, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone 8. Not only does it look nice, but it’s super easy to use. Simply place your phone onto the charging pad and the charging starts. There’s a handy ‘charging indicator’ light, and it will charge through most protective cases too. However, convenience the collaboration comes at a price. It’s not the cheapest piece of kit available.

The new iPhone wireless charger from Apple

What Apple gives, it must surely taketh away, especially when it comes to the latest tech collaborations. Just as Samsung – who are about to lose their OLED screens to Apple’s latest MicroLED invention. Naturally, Apple always comes out with their own kit that is entirely compatible, and therefore more efficient with iPhone technology and iOS. The new device won’t be available until next year, but it will be clever enough to manage the recharge duties required by all wireless charge compatible iPhones, the iPod, and the iWatch, all at one time. Expect a rather large price tag to go with it though. It also won’t be included with devices, and will only be on offer separately to customers.
