The Samsung Galaxy S9 is almost here

The Samsung Galaxy S9 is almost here: Samsung, always hot on the heels of Apple trends, is throwing caution to the wind and going bigger and more expensive than ever before.

And it’s not just the smartphone handsets, but the prices that are on the up. Last year, when iPhone launched the iPhone X, customers baulked at the $1,000 price tag. But now industry insiders are saying that Samsung’s latest device, the Galaxy S9, will have a retail price starting at £739 –  that’s well over the $1,000 mark.

So that means that Samsung fans wanting to get their hands on the Samsung S9 Plus, will be looking and parting with around $1,175.

Samsung S9 Plus Vs the Iphone X

If you think that price is just too darn high (and we think it is a little steep considering the competition out there) Apple wil be launching their most expensive phone to date in the form of the iPhone X Plus – which will cost a staggering $1,400…

But the fact remains that these two tech giants are now so neck and neck in terms of deliverables, that it’s very difficult to decide which handset offers customers more.

Dedicated iPhone followers declare the iOS to be by far superior to Android. Meanwhile,  Samsung fans argue that Apple is too much of an exclusive club – and that Android is more user friendly and practical.

It’s this sense of practicality that has won Samsung such a loyal following. Even if Apple tech is superior, longevity of battery life, water-resistance – and a simpler interface seems to attract and keep customers happy.

So what are the main differences between the iPhone X and the Samsung S9?

Well, Samsung, as usual, has taken longer to deliver the goods. The Galaxy S9 is due to be launched on February 25th 2018 – and the iPhone X has been buzzing around since October 2017.

iPhone vs Samsung Galaxy S9 tech

Both phones boast incredible cameras – but the iPhone X offers superb video stabilization features.

The screen on the Samsung Galaxy S9 will be just a smidgeon larger than the iPhone X – a mere 6 inches as oppose to 5.8 inches.

But the available Ram on the iPhone is just 3GB, while the Samsung Galaxy s9 offers a very comfortable 6GB Ram.

The screen resolsution on the Samsung Galaxy S9 is also impressive – with a very defined 1440×2960 pixels display. The iPhone X meanwhile, currently provides  1125 x 2436 pixels.

Both phones are also water resistant. Just how resistant the iPhone X actually is, requires more definition. But the Samsung S9 happily states it can keep the moisture at bay in a depth of 1.5 metres for up to 30 minutes. That’s about how long it will take you to realise your kid has thrown your phone into the swimming pool.

There are other very techy differences too – but the user benefits are negligible because if you love iPhone and iOS, the iPhone will suit you, and if you love Android, Samsung is clearly your first choice.

As smartphone repair specialists, we certainly look forward to getting our hands on the brand new Samsung Galaxy S9 this week, and finding what all the fuss is about. Watch this space for our reactions.
